Having grown up on a horse farm in WI, Kayla has been in the saddle since before she could walk. She began training and taking on “project horses” as a pre-teen, and her most influential teacher over the years continues to be internationally known horseman Mark Rashid. He taught Kayla at a very young age how to work with horses, not against them, as well as to do her best to listen to what horses are trying to say and to allow them the time they need to process information. She has been an assistant instructor of Marks for over 8 years and has travelled extensively to teach alongside Mark and his wonderful wife Crissi.
She has experience in many disciplines including Dressage, Western Dressage, Western and English Pleasure, Ranch Horse and Trail.
Kayla’s teaching style sets people and horses at ease, and her ability to understand the horse’s point of view solves difficult issues with communication rather than force. She understands that crucial to building successful relationships with horses, is a humble disposition coupled with kind intentions, and she tries her best to incorporate these qualities into everything she does.
It’s very important to Kayla that she creates a nonjudgmental and positive learning environment for each student no matter their skill level. Her principles in horsemanship help her students achieve steps towards whatever goals they may have, with softness.
